Description
Description
This lovely, classic Ethiopian comes to us from Halo Beriti, a washing station operated by Abiyot Ageze in the fabled coffee growing region the trade refers to as Yirgacheffe. We've been purchasing coffees from Abiyot and the Halo station for many years, as we feel they are some of the truest examples of what traditional Ethiopian washed processed coffees are known for tasting like. Smallholder farmers who deliver cherries here typically have very small plots of land, averaging just between 1-2 hectares, and most of them use some of their farm to plant personal food crops as well. About 550 smallholders contributed to this lot.
We purchased this lot through our partners at Shared Source, as they consistently do an excellent job with pricing transparency, farmer support and finding stand-out lots that we are fortunate to be able to share with you. This coffee sings of proper black tea tones, florals, and citrus bursts - exactly as you would expect from a standout washed Ethiopia.
