Description

Christian Burgos is a coffee professional in Narino, an area we love purchasing coffee from to due it's massively diverse taste offerings and quality lots. He began managing a part of his family farm in 2020, following his grandfather's passing, and works alongside parcels managed by his mother, Nancy Diaz, and uncle, Oscar Diaz. Christian takes pride in his farm management skills, and says that he’s proudest knowing that he was able to convince his family members of the long-term value of using more advanced practices to stabilize production, resources, and cost control- while promoting the long-term health of the soils.

Christian has utilized several techniques to improve production, such as identifying pruning methods to generate new branches and adjusting tree spacing for better aeration, pest control, and maintenance. He has modernized his families practices by planting shade trees, and producing their own organic fertilizer by decomposing cherry skins and mucilage, while using a vermiculture project to add lime, ash, and guinea pig manure. This year, they were able to process 1,500 kg of compost.

This is a primary example of the types of individuals Shared Source chooses to work alongside with. We're super grateful to have been able to purchase this super small and limited lot, and we think it's a stunner!!
