Kenya Kiramara PB
This wonderful Kenyan peaberry comes to us from the famous Kiramara Estate washing station, located 12 kilometers from Nyeri, at the foot of Mt. Kenya set between the Chania and Muriggato Rivers. Nyeri is an ideal coffee growing region, renowned for its high quality production due to the good volcanic soils and conducive climate. The complexity and richness of this cup is astounding, and can be attested to the richness of the soil and high quality production during the cooler season. The estate was founded in the 1920's by european settlers but it is currently owned by Mutanga Investments Company Ltd, which is a family property of the late engineer Julius Mimano, who was Kenya’s first African mechanical engineer, and a pivotal figure in the Kenyan railroad.
The coffee is processed using the classic Kenyan double fermentation method. After soaking, it is dried on raised shade-net tables at Kirimara. From there, the coffee is moved to the Socfinaf Coffee Mill, in Ruiru, Kenya, where it is milled and graded.
