Ethiopia Abiyot Ageze
Notes of black tea, orange zest, magnolia.
This lovely, classic Ethiopian comes to us from Abiyot Ageze's washing station. Farmers who deliver cherries here typically have very small plots of land, averaging just between 1-2 hectares, and most of them use some of the farm to plant personal food crops as well.
Abiyot Ageze has become a leader in the Woreda, and he operates two washing stations including this one in Konga. When the laws changed in 2017, allowing importers to purchase full traceable coffees, he expanded and made his own company named Boledu, which gets its namesake from a river that runs through Yirgacheffe. Shared source, our sourcing agency partner, purchased this coffee directly from Boledu.
Shared Source does an excellent job with pricing transparency, farmer support and finding stand-out lots that we are fortunate to be able to share with you! This coffee sings of proper black tea tones, with lovely florals and citrus bursts to fill up the palate.
